Fujiyoshida

Fujiyoshida route is one of my favorite route to climb Mount Fuji. What makes this route so nice is that I could walk from the foot of the mountain from the train station without too much car traffic. Other routes such as Suyama requires me to take a bus which only runs several times a day to the entrance. I'm able to walk from the Gotemba station too, but the car traffic makes this route very undesirable to climb especially once it gets dark because cars usually speed through the winding road without any traffic lights.
On the Fujiyoshida route, I can take the last train to the Fujiyoshida station and start climbing from around 11:00pm without worrying too much about being ran over by a car.
Fujiyoshida route, also, offers a glimpse of history. There is Fujiyoshida Sengenjinja (shrine) at the foot of the mountain and several ruined down huts along the path.
This route is very quiet until the sixth station when it merges with Kawaguchiko route. If I begin walking from the station in the morning, it allows me a quiet and restful stroll during the daytime and a well-lighted up path up with people just as it begins to become dark.
Another advantage of taking this route is that I can take the bus from the New Kawaguchiko Fifth Station if the weather turns bad. Believe me, trying to climb during the typhoon is very difficult and you'll want to take the bus down from the fifth station.
