Fujimiya Route (1/2)

Fujimiya New Fifth Station offers the shortest and easiest trail to the summit.
Many families with a small child take this route because it is short and easy and there are opened huts along the way.
The disadvantage of this route is that there is only one trail for ascending and descending and it is rocky even though there isn't rock climbing as in Fujiyoshida.
Access to the rather clamped New Fifth station is another problem. The parking lot is very small and is closed during the summer months during the day time. You'll have to park at Mizugazuka parking lot (see Suyama) and take a bus from there. There is also a bus from JR Mishima station but it is rather inconvient to go there from Tokyo and the bus ride is rather long and expensive.
- Even during the crowded summer month in August, Fujimiya route is not as crowded as the Fujiyoshida route.
From the New 5th station, you'll be able to see the summit.
- In the afternoon, the cloudy tends to sweep up from below. There is a tendency to rain around 3pm so try to arrive at your destination before then.
- The trail is nice and wide. This is the easiest route to walk.
- Looking right at Hoeizan.
- Looking behind. The trail is nice wide trail with chains to make it safe.
- Watch out for the sudden turn of the weather. The clouds crept up pretty fast.
- Higher up, large rocks begins to populate the trail.
