This is a picture looking toward Shizuoka Prefecture. The smoke near the center of the picture is from the paper factories in Fuji city.
  2. Hoeizan looks way down.
  3. Trail to the Fujimiya route around the 8th station. There are some people who climb up from Fujimiya and take this route so they can stay at the Akaishi 8th station hut.
  4. Looking back, the red Fuji summit appears.
  5. Back down to the 9th station where there is a remains of a hut.
  6. The shining hut is the Akaishi 8th station hut.
  7. The 7th station Sunabashiri hut. Take a break here and get ready for running on the sandy decline route. The trail is going to be sandy and sand dust will raise as we walk making us look like we're covered in soot.
I usually cover my nose and a mouth with a towel, cover my sack, wear gaiters over my shoes to keep ash from getting in my shoes.
